New Zealand v Bangladesh, 2nd ODI, Dunedin
Taylor Seals ODI Series for New Zealand
08-Feb-2010 06:14:00 GMT

Dunedin: Having been kept to 183 by New Zealand's tidy bowling attack, Bangladesh were drubbed by the broad bat of Ross Taylor as they surrendered the series to the hosts.

Yet another excellent performance by the Kiwis. They won the toss and elected to bowl in slightly seaming conditions and the bowlers made the most of those conditions reducing Bangladesh to 46/6.

A late order resurgence saw the visitors earn some respect reaching 183. However, that didn't trouble the Kiwis too much and apart from a few hiccups at the start, they reached the target quite comfortably, the aggressive Ross Taylor leading the way.

Bangladesh's woes continue with their batting show and the captain, who is the leading ODI all-rounder at the moment, going through a batting slump as well.

Ross Taylor has been named the man-of-the-match for his clobbering 78 of 52 balls with the bat.

Another batting fiasco for the visitors after much promise at home. None of the top order batsmen fired and Bangladesh struggled to get going. However, as has been their story for the past few games, their middle order fought it out yet again and managed to avoid the blushes. They now would be hoping to take something for themselves from this tough series in the dead rubber. The final day/night game of the series is at Christchurch, on Thursday, the 11th of February, 2010, Bangladesh would now be playing for pride.

Earlier, after put to bat by Vettori, ordinary start but a magnificient finish by Bangladesh. One stage they were 46 for 6 with the top order being completely ripped apart by the Kiwi seamers. But then, wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim and Naeem Islam added 101 for the seventh wicket and gave some hopes for Bangladesh to have some sort of a target to defend.

Rahim played a beatiful knoack of 83 and ensured that Bangladesh crossed 180. Ian Butler was the pick of the bowlers with 3-43 in 10 overs after early damage done by Andy McKay.

Brief scores
Bangladesh:
183 for 8 (Mushfiqur Rahim 83, Butler 3-43)
New Zealand: 185 for 5 (Taylor 78, Shafiul Islam 3-49)
Result: New Zealand won by 5-wickets
MOM: Ross Taylor (New Zealand)
