Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 465 runs on the fourth day of the second and final Test to whitewash two-Test series 2-0. Dilshan 4-10 and Mendis 3-57 run through the Bangla batting line-up in their second essay to sweep the series in their favour.

Spinner Mendis initiated the attack by picking up three quick wickets to spur Sri Lanka towards a crushing victory over Bangladesh as they were tottering at 62/5 at tea on the fourth day.

Pacemen Chaminda Vaas and Dilhara Fernando claimed one wicket each, triggering a typical Bangladesh batting collapse.

Earlier in the day, Tillakaratne Dilshan became only the fourth Sri Lankan batsman to score a century in both Test innings before Sri Lanka declared their second innings at 447/6 at lunch.

Dilshan, who scored 162 in the first innings, reached 143 before he was bowled by left-arm spinner Enamul Haque. Bangladesh, who superbly chased a world record total before their first Test defeat, lost opener Imrul Kayes, who edged Mendis to Mahela Jayawardene at slip for five.

Earlier, Dilshan emulated compatriots Duleep Mendis, Asanka Gurusinha and Aravinda de Silva, the other Sri Lankan batsmen to score centuries in both innings of a Test match, when he drove paceman Shahadat Hossain past backward point for a boundary.

Resuming on 296/4, Sri Lanka lost their first wicket of the morning when Thilan Samaraweera was adjudged lbw off left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan after adding only five runs to his overnight 72.

His dismissal ended a 145-run stand for the fifth wicket but Chamara Kapugedera helped Sri Lanka keep the scoreboard ticking over, adding 86 runs for the sixth wicket before Dilshan departed with the score on 396.
