India in New Zealand, 2008/09
New Zealand v India 3rd ODI, Christchurch - March 08, 2009
07-Mar-2009 19:30:00 IST

Christchurch: A confident India will look to continue their domination when they clash against New Zealand in the third One-dayer on Sunday.

If India win the third game they will take an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Both India and New Zealand have entertainers in their batting line-ups but the rainy weather in Napier and Wellington ensured that their performances were curtailed.

Leading 1-0, a win on Sunday will ensure that India will not lose the series and they can push for the series-victory in the last two matches without a more relaxed approach.

But the two rain-marred matches at Napier and Wellington has not only upset the rhythm of the players to some extent, but has also put New Zealand in a tricky situation.

The first ODI was a one-sided 28-over game, which India won by 53 runs, and the second got no further than 28.4 overs. Sunday's forecast says there's a 20% chance of precipitation in Christchurch. Hopefully it will leave enough time to squeeze in a 50-over contest.

Raina was proclaimed the Michael Bevan of Indian cricket when he arrived on the international scene. And much like the Australian match-winner, Suresh Raina couldn't settle into the groove as he found and lost his way in and out of the team.

Brendon McCullum has not recovered completely from a thumb injury and so New Zealand are likely to field the same XI as in Wellington, with Peter McGlashan as wicketkeeper.

Martin Guptill: He blasted 41 off 28 balls in the series opener and has scores of 10 (given lbw despite an inside edge) and 64 since then. Guptill is a fierce puller and the short square boundaries at the AMI Stadium will be to his liking.
