India tour of Sri Lanka 2008India v Sri Lanka 2nd Test Match at GalleLast Update : 03-Aug-2008 16:30:00 IST
Galle: Despite the thrashing in the first Test, the Indians think tank has not lost its faith in the XI that was fielded in Colombo. Officially, the team management has taken a call on the combination for the second Test starting here on Wednesday.
However, team sources said India will not ask Parthiv Patel to do the job behind the stumps despite Dinesh Karthik's medisource show with the gloves and the bat in the first Test. Pitch curator Polonowita, has already indicated that the Galle pitch will assist the spinners and so the Indian team is grappling with the idea whether they can induct an extra spinner Pragyan in the team.
Gambhir said: "Murali is a legend Sri Lanka have quality spinners i their lineup, but the are not unplayable. Our batting lineup is very good. What has happened in the previous Test match is history, now we want to win this Test and keep the series alive.
Toss: India have won the toss and have decided to bat. So we don't have wait long to see how Indians fare against the double jeopardy this time. Both teams are unchanged.
