Home Series a Concern for PCB in Post-2012 FTP
30-Nov-2009 14:51:00 GMT

Karachi: With foreign teams not too keen on touring Pakistan due to the volatile security situation, the country's Cricket Board is finding it tough to map out its home series which would be incorporated in the next Future Tours Program (FTP) from 2012 to 2020.

The ICC's Chief Executives Committee, which started a two-day meeting in Dubai on Monday, is discussing the location and scheduling of ICC events for the period after 2015.

In addition to this, the CEC will also consider the location of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 and the post 2012 FTP draft proposals.

Sources in the PCB said the board was facing an unusual situation due to the fluid security situation in Pakistan.

"Most of the other Test playing nations are avoiding any series in Pakistan even in the post 2012 FTP as they are not convinced the security situation in Pakistan is going to improve for the next few years," one source said.

He said this has left Pakistan in the uneasy situation of not being in the run to host any ICC event after 2015 or even bid for the 2013 Champions Trophy.

"Chief operating officer, Wasim Bari has gone to attend the two-day meeting but there is nothing much he can do or give any valuable inputs into the FTP because of the security situation in Pakistan," the source said.

The security situation in Pakistan, which has seen a wave of suicide bombings and terrorist attacks, has already led to the ICC shifting Pakistan's share of matches of the 2011 World Cup and also relocating the 2008 Champions Trophy to South Africa.
