ICC Twenty20 World Cup, 2010
Graeme Smith May Play in T20 WC
19-Mar-2010 16:15:00 GMT

Cape town: South Africa captain Graeme Smith is expected to recover from a fractured finger in time to play in the Twenty20 World Cup in West Indies in April, Cricket South Africa said on Friday.

CSA's medical specialists reviewed X-rays and scans of the injury late on Thursday and believe that Smith will be back to full fitness in four weeks.

Smith suffered a double fracture to his right middle finger while taking a catch in an Indian Premier League match earlier in the week and it was feared he could be out of the game for up to six weeks.

The World Twenty20 starts on April 30 while South Africa's first game is against India on May 2.

"Graeme will have a further X-ray on Tuesday to make sure his recovery is on track," Proteas team manager Dr. Mohammed Moosajee said in a statement.
