Wellington: A decision on whether a third test will be added to India's tour of New Zealand in March should be made by next week, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said on Friday.

Indian officials had asked their New Zealand counterparts to consider adding a test to the itinerary to help recover lost revenue from cancelled events.

India are scheduled to play two tests, five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 international in New Zealand from March 6-April 7.

New Zealand media has suggested should a third test be added, it would likely necessitate the tourists arriving a week earlier and playing the test before embarking on the already agreed schedule.
