Butt Happy After Meeting with Pawar, Lorgat
12-Jan-2010 03:09:00 GMT

Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ejaz Butt returned home on Monday a happy man from Dhaka after holding meetings with the ICC officials, Sharad Pawar and Haroon Lorgat.

Butt was in Dhaka for the 2011 World Cup logo unveiling ceremony and held meetings with the two key ICC officials on the sidelines before returning to Karachi.

Pawar who is also an influential figure in Indian cricket will take over as ICC President before the World Cup from David Morgan.

"I had two very good and constructive meetings with Pawar and Lorgat which will bring good news for Pakistan cricket in the near future," Butt said and added that Pawar as always remained supportive of Pakistan cricket.

He said that the meetings had focused on Pakistan's push for India restoring bilateral cricket ties with it this year and on Pakistan's international calendar that was affected by the security situation in the country.

"I also spoke about the 2011 World Cup and Pakistan's role and share from the tournament," he said.

Butt is facing growing calls for his ouster at home with the Chairman of the National Assembly standing committee on sports, Jamshed Dasti having sent a letter to the chief patron of the board, President Asif Zardari demanding the removal of Butt.

Dasti had described Butt as too old and mentally and physically unfit to head cricket affairs of the country.

Butt said he had read about Dasti's comments and would release a detailed statement on them soon.

"But I also very much plan to initiate legal proceedings against him not as PCB Chairman but in my individual capacity. I will now give all my answers to Dasti''s unfounded allegations in court," he said.

Butt said the PCB had been very cooperative with the NA committee and its officials when ever called to attend any hearings.

"I am pleased to read that other members of the committee have distanced themselves from Dasti's comment about me and the board," Butt added.
