Cape Cobras v Trinidad and Tobago, 2nd semi-final
Bravo Blast Trinidad & Tobago Enter into CL Final
22-Oct-2009 17:51:00 GMT

Hyderabad: The only unbeaten team in the Champions League, Trinidad & Tobago, produced another compelling performance oozing with Caribbean flair to knock the Cape Cobras out of the tournament and set up a summit clash against New South Wales.

The second semi-final wasn't anywhere near as one-sided as the first, though, and T&T and the Cobras traded blow for blow, wrestling for the ascendancy until Dwayne Bravo's first significant contribution with the bat in the competition was the deciding blow on a thrilling evening in Hyderabad.

Earlier, Trinidad & Tobago did not allow most of them to stay long enough to cause significant damage. The result was an intense tug-of-war for the upper hand - highlighted by exceptional hitting, timely wickets, and inspirational fielding - and it wasn't until JP Duminy imposed himself on the final overs that the Cobras emerged with a formidable total.

Duminy, who went past Phillip Hughes as the Champions League's highest scorer, played second fiddle during the early part of his innings, while the likes of Herschelle Gibbs and Rory Kleinveldt wielded the long handle. However, once it was left to him to provide the final thrust, Duminy launched his attack, accelerating from 34 off 26 deliveries at one stage to finish with 61 off 40.

Brief score
Cape Cobras: 175 for 5 (Duminy 61*, Gibbs 42) by seven wickets
Trinidad & Tobago: 178 for 3 (Bravo 58*, Ganga 44*)
Result: Trinidad & Tobago beat Cape Cobras by seven wickets
MOM: Dwayne Bravo (Trinidad & Tobago)
