ICC World Twenty20 2012
Blackcaps Boosted by Vettori Twenty20 Return
20-Jun-2012 06:35:00 GMT

Wellington: New Zealand Cricket (NZC) today announced that Daniel Vettori has declared himself available for the Blackcaps ICC World Twenty20 campaign.

A year ago Vettori announced he was taking a break from short-form cricket after representing the Blackcaps in all formats since 1997.

NZC Chief Executive, David White, is delighted Vettori will be available for the ICC World Twenty20 and said he will provide valuable experience to the side.

"Dan was the number one ranked Twenty20 bowler in 2009 and is widely regarded as one of the best Twenty20 exponents in world cricket," said White.

"His availability is a real boost for the BLACKCAPS with his style of bowling well suited to conditions in Sri Lanka," he added.

A driving force behind Vettori’s decision to re-ignite his Twenty20 International career was his desire to compete in another world event said National Selection Manager Kim Littlejohn.

"Twenty20 is a format Dan enjoys and the opportunity to be part of a team which competes at a world event is enticing for him," said Littlejohn.

The preliminary squad for the ICC World Twenty20 will be announced 18 July 2012.
