India v Sri Lanka 2nd Test Match Day Two, Report
Bhajji's Guide To The For in Gale, Match Is Balanced
02-Aug-2008 07:00:00 IST

Galle: Opener Virender Sehwag 201* took over from where he had left on Day1. He carried his ba even as India were bowled out for 329. Later, Harbhajan Singh took 4/71 to keep India in the hunt. On Friday, Sehwag carried his bat through - only the second Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to do so - to remain unconquered on an imperious 201*, his fifth double century and 11th consecutive 150+ score.

But, if nobody gave him supports as India folder for 329 in their first innings, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh (4-71) made amends with the ball by ripping through to leave the match interestingly poised.

At the end of absorbing second day's play in this second Test, the Sri Lankans in reply were 215/5 here at the Galle International Stadium. Match Summary - India 329 and Sri Lanka 215/5.

Some important highlights of 2nd Day:

  • Six wickets claimed by Ajantha Mendis in India's first Innings.
