Adelaide: Australia beat New Zealand by an innings and 62 runs after being dismissed for 203 on day four today.

The win gives Australia a 2-0 series win after winning the first test in Brisbane by 149 runs. A late surge by Brendon McCullum, who top scored for New Zealand with 84 not out, was too little too late as the visitors lost all of their second innings wickets today.

Brett Lee was the pick of the Australian bowlers finishing with five for 105, which included the first four New Zealand wickets. Lee also pick up four wickets in first Innings.

The Kiwis started the day on 35 for none, 230 runs behind Australia and lost four wickets in the first hour. Black Caps opener Aaron Redmond was dismissed in just the second ball of the day after hitting the opening delivery to the boundary. The next ball he played a cut shot straight to the hands of Michael Clarke at point for 19.

Jesse Ryder entered at 39 for one and managed only three runs before he was caught by Andrew Symonds, giving Lee his second wicket of the innings. New Zealand were 83 for five at lunch and it got worse soon after the break with Peter Fulton clean bowled by Mitchell Johnson for seven.

McCullum and Daniel Vettori then put on 21 for the seventh wicket before the New Zealand skipper was outdone by Nathan Hauritz as he edged one to first slip Matthew Hayden for 11. McCullum and Iain O'Brien made it through to tea at 167 for eight and managed to put on a 50-partnership, despite the fact the O'Brien was soon dismissed for a duck.

Australia complete the whitewash and they'll be a much relieved bunch after a forgettable series in India. They took a bit of time to adjust back to home conditions and they've certainly clicked in all departments here in Adelaide. Except for Hayden and Symonds, the rest have contributed well with the bat. Lee may not have finished with his best innings figures but he still managed five wickets and he'll be delighted with that. The Australians have an extended break before the first Test at Perth against South Africa on the 17th.

And now the stat you've all been waiting for. Brett Lee is the only bowler to have taken more than 300 Test wickets without taking six or more wickets in an innings. Brad Haddin is the Man of the Match, while Michael Clarke is the Man of the Series.
